For smoked salmon BLT
And a summer beer

References: Neopol in the Belvedere Square Market has a smoked salmon BLT that goes very well with the draft offerings at Grand Cru. Their smoked pork sandwiches are really good too.

I’d be invited back to
The next poker game

References: I like to think it’s my beer that gets me invited to poker night. Unfortunately it’s more likely that it’s what I leave in the pot.

Crossing the channel
I’m a little overwhelmed
By all the flavor
Written by Captain Hops.
References: Brian of Stillwater Artisanal Ales teamed up with Stephen of Oliver Breweries to create the collaborative Channel Crossing Ale. Described alternatively as an Extra Special Belgian or a Belgian Bitter, this English/Belgian hybrid was debuted at the Pratt Street Ale House on Thursday May 20, 2010 in a variety of serving styles and flavors. I tasted the draft version and the cask version served from a firkin with French oak. They also had three pins, each with the ale dry hopped with a different variety of hops. One was dry hopped with Kent Goldings, one Bramling Cross, and last Czech Saaz. It was a fun night.

Oak aged barley wine

Extreme bocce ball
Written by Captain Hops.
References: I tried the Bourbon Barrel and Cabernet Barrel aged Barley Wines from Heavy Seas side by side today. Wow. Good work Hugh! I preferred the Cabernet Barrel Aged. It went great with blue cheese stuffed peppers and a grilled tuna steak. The Bourbon Barrel aged version was quite good too, but it seemed more appropriate for desert than with the meal. Keep in mind that these babies are 10% ABV. That fact didn’t do much for my bocce ball game and my brother pretty much kicked my ass all over my back yard.
